College Prep

The Northeast Collegiate Institute (NCI) is Maplebrook’s college-preparatory program for high school seniors with college promise. Students who show sufficient academic aptitude are invited to participate in this program during their junior year. Included in this program are higher-level classes in the core subjects of reading, writing, and math.  Additionally, students take a credit-free course at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie on Saturdays. This course allows our students to have an on-campus experience while sharpening key study skills necessary for college success.

College Connections
Maplebrook has articulation agreements with both Dean College and Curry College. If a senior student participating in NCI earns an A average, has attained the highest level of Maplebrook’s RISE program, and possesses strong independent living skills, we will refer them to these colleges. Based on this referral, a student’s acceptance to either of these schools is ensured should he or she choose to apply.

Other colleges & universities of NCI Alumni include:

  • Manhattanville College
  • Brescia College
  • SUNY Oswego
  • Beacon College
  • Mitchell College
  • Liberty University
  • Fairleigh Dickinson University
  • Lynn University

NCI seeks to empower students with learning differences who have the ability to succeed in college to realize their full academic potential, and to chart a path to moving forward successfully.
