The Maplebrook Cross Country Team had an exciting meet at the 2018 Rumsey Hall Invitational. Participating alongside 5 other schools, the Eagles faced some tough competition as there were over 100 runners! The team held strong and all 8 of our runners finished the race. Tanya had an extremely solid run placing in the top 10 in the female category. Out of 40 female runners, Tanya placed at 9th! Jillian had a great race as well. In the male category, Colin was the top finisher for the Eagles with Aidan, Benjamin, Jon, and Ryan completing the pack. Well done to the team!
Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018: Due to the inclement weather, today’s soccer game vs. Berkshire Waldorf has been canceled. We will update the Falls Sports Schedule with the alternate date as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
The Maplebrook Eagles fed off the high energy from their previous match. Our top players, Nick, TD, Zach and Riley were ready for another tough game. Tanya, who made her seven year comeback to soccer this match, gave it her all. The team had started off well with good passes but they had a difficult time on the defensive end, which was important in this game.
Players were trying their best to score the goals but they were not getting through the Woodhall defense. Zach did a great job as a goalkeeper and tried his best to block everything. Nick gave a strong performance and led the offense to the net. In the overall game, I saw brilliant goals by our team but all went in vain by the amount of goals scored by Woodhall. From my point of view, the Eagles need to be careful when they are facing difficult situations like the opposing team giving them pressure or not giving them any space to pass. This is something we can improve upon in practice.
The second half started off on a better note and I was quite confident with our team at that point in time. Zach made a great save which was important to keep our energy up. TD put in a lot of effort to score a goal, but the Woodhall goalie made some wonderful saves. Nick and Tanya worked hard on offense and almost made a very nice play, but they were unable to finish it with a goal. In addition, there were great efforts made by Jordana and Ben which helped boost the team’s confidence.
In conclusion, the team did a great job. They lost by a score of 6-5. Congratulations to Woodhall for a well played game. It was a close match and I am sure that our team would present a better show in the next match.

Thank you, Saurabhya for another thoughtful recap! The Eagles game that was scheduled for today, September 25th, has been canceled due to the inclement weather, please stand by for the alternate date. Our next game will be tomorrow, Wednesday 26th, vs. Kildonan (Home at 3:30 pm).
After only a few days of practice and preparation, the Maplebrook Cross Country team hosted Dutchess Day School for a cross country track meet. All of the student athletes were excited for the competition. Although the course was challenging each one of our athletes completed the course.
Our practices focused on maintaining an appropriate pace and increasing endurance. Each of our runners ran the course with those skills in mind. The top three Maplebrook students to complete the course did so in the following order:
Great job, everyone!
From all the hard work and practice, I think that Maplebrook played a competitive game. Our strongest players had a lot to prove against the strong Sherman team, and it was sure a fire cracker of a game! Nick tried very hard to help his teammates get more contact with the ball. Zach was doing a great job as a goalkeeper with the help of our defenders during the first half of the match. During that period, Nick caught the Sherman goalkeeper off guard and scored a wonderful goal.
During the second half, the Eagles made a switch in goalkeepers. Riley did a great job in net and put in one hundred percent effort. Bobby played solid defence while TD tried to move the ball up field. TD put in a lot of effort, which was much needed during this game. Also, Ben gave a lot of energy and had some brilliant touches during the match. In conclusion, I would like to say that the Maplebrook Soccer team had a strong performance despite losing 7 to 4. Nick scored four goals in the match. I wish them good luck for upcoming matches and I hope they will become legends in soccer.
