The MBS Student Government Association conducted its annual election on November 7th, 2017. This year was very competitive due to the strong campaigning efforts made by each candidate. We are extremely proud of each student that participated!

For teacher Gerry Amarillas, affectionately known as “Mr. A,” August 4th marked the official beginning of his life as a naturalized U.S. citizen. In addition to Mr. Amarillas, a total of 76 people from 33 countries were granted citizenship at a ceremony held at Maplebrook’s Whalen Hall. Congratulations to all of the new U.S. citizens! Once again the weather held off for Maplebrook’s 2017 Graduation. There were tears and cheers as the graduates gave their speeches. The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Pamela Edington, spoke to us about listening to the students.
Musical Milestones is an ensemble that chronologically tells the colorful history of Broadway through some of it’s most iconic songs. We hope you enjoy the video of our first performance. Enjoy the show!
On Sunday, April 9, 2017 Maplebrook School will once again be a sponsor of the Hand in Hand 5K Run/Walk over the Hudson, the proceeds of which go towards the Panichi Center for Communication & Learning. This annual event is a great opportunity for our students to participate in the local community and to give back – and we invite you to join us!
New for this year, the race will be starting on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway over the Hudson, at 61 Parker Avenue. Entry fees are $20 for runners who register before race day (day-of fee is $25) and $10 for walkers. The first 125 runners will receive an event T-shirt, and prizes will be awarded to the first-place female and male runners. The walking event is non-competitive. Families with little ones are invited to participate as well – children under 5 can walk (or run!) in this event for free.
Downloadable registration and pledge forms may be found here on the Maplebrook School website. For more information on this event, or to pre-register, please call Tabitha at 845-373-9511 ext. 257. Registration for the 5K is also available online through active.com. We hope to see you at the Walkway on April 9th!
