Annual Fund

Most parents are surprised to find that tuition does not cover the cost of their child's education. Tuition and fees cover approximately 90% of the cost of the education, as is the case with many other independent schools.  Our development efforts are designed, in part, to solicit charitable gifts to bridge the gap between tuition income and the actual cost of operating the School.  Gifts to the Annual Fund are used to pay the annual operating expenses of our school.  Teacher recruitment and training, curriculum and program enhancements support for our creative and performing arts, athletic programs, technology upgrades, and maintenance of existing facilities are examples of ways in which these gifts are used.

The official beginning of the Annual Fund drive begins in September with each donor from the previous year receiving a telephone call from a student or Board member, thanking them for their contribution last year. Later in the fall, we call on parents, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to make a gift to the Annual Fund. Unlike many of the other independent schools, Maplebrook graduates, because of the nature of their learning challenges, are unable to support their alma mater to the same extent as alumni from other schools. Knowing this, we must rely more on the gifts from friends, parents, and grandparents.  However, alumni still make an important contribution to the Annual Fund and every gift is important, no matter what size. Your donation, together with those of others, is vital to the continued strength of the school and in providing an education of value to the students.

For the last several years and ending June 30th, gifts to the Annual Fund surpassed the $150,000 mark.  Gifts to the Fund may be made by credit card or you may wish to view the Methods of Giving section to learn more about making gifts in other ways.
