A person with learning disabilities may need extra help and support with everyday activities. Independent living doesn’t mean that they have to live independently of support or care, rather that they should receive support for the choices that they make. Independent living also means having control over what assistance is available to help them go about their daily lives. We teach our young adults to understand themselves, what they need and accepting their learning deficits. The Institute for Collegiate and Career Studies recognizes that our young adults have a variety of independent living needs as well as differing abilities and barriers that they need assistance overcoming. We take pride in helping our students acquire the tools necessary to be productive members of society and happy adults.
