Community College Offerings

Students attend local colleges to earn college credit based on the results of a placement exam.  A college mentor from Maplebrook is assigned to determine interests and abilities, then will help develop a program that may lead to an associate's degree or certificate program.  Offerings include:

  • General Education Course credit
  • Online credit courses
  • Remedial courses
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) certificate program
  • College Preparatory Seminar & Study skills courses

The College Experience

Having the right skills is vitally important in today's competitive job market.  For students seeking a less intensive collegiate experience, NCI offers a variety of credential programs both on campus and online.  These include, but are not limited to:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Data Entry
  • Hospitality
  • Video Game Design
  • Pet Grooming/Animal Care

These programs provide a similar experience as that of higher education but in a fraction of the time.  These credential programs offer hands-on experience with the latest technology, all with faculty and staff dedicated to helping you successfully reach your career goals using the learning style that best suits you.

In conjunction with the credential programs, students engage in experiential learning to practice the skills they are acquiring through the program.  A true sense of accomplishment in applying what you are learning in the classroom rounds out the credential program.

Study & Social Skill Development

Every student is unique, so NCI develops a support plan for each student to help them be successful.  Study skills and preparation courses focus on such crucial skills as general study skills, test taking strategies, tackling the textbooks, term paper writing, note taking and time management.  Keeping on top of your coursework is challenging enough, so faculty and staff assist with important skills such as goal setting, problem solving, organizational support, individual academic counseling, communication skills, advocacy skills and much more.

It is important to understand your learning style, we help students identify the skills necessary to navigate higher education, as well as focusing on their own strengths, compensating for deficits and building the self-esteem to be successful.
