There are many questions regarding how Maplebrook might address our traditional end of year events and what plans are being made for returning to school. The administrative team continues its work to carefully review the latest developments related to COVID-19 and to engage in dialogue with experts and other school administrators to help make informed decisions. This page attempts to answer questions to the best of our ability with the understanding that every day brings new information.
We will stay in close contact as we continue to walk this journey together.

Collection of belongings
When can I collect my student's things?
In accordance with state mandates regarding social distancing and to preserve the health and safety of those living on campus, families will not be permitted into the dormitories and time on campus will be limited.
Option 1: The School will pack all items, label and store securely on campus. These items will then be moved to the appropriate rooms on campus for the start of the 2020-21 school year. If they have not already done so, families may request “essential” items to be shipped home. We may limit the number of boxes to be shipped.
Option 2: In compliance with state and local emergency orders families may elect to drive to Maplebrook to retrieve belongings before the end of the academic year. These items will be packed by the School. Families will be given a set date and time that they can arrive on campus for “curbside” pick-up. Families do not need to take all items - this option can be combined with storage.
Option 3: Families that are unable to drive to campus and wish to procure the entirety of their belongings can elect to have them shipped to them. These items will be packed by the School. Families will incur the cost of shipping.
Maplebrook School will adhere to the following protocols while packing:

Prom
Will there be a prom?
The prom is a quintessential Maplebrook tradition. the COVID-19 crisis arrived just as we were gearing up for the last push of the spring semester and making plans for prom. While we cannot have an in-person prom this year, technology along with a lot of creativity will allow us to have a social distancing-friendly way to celebrate with family and friends. In the coming weeks you will be sent instructions to help us pull off an event no one will forget!

parent/teacher conferences
How can we discuss my student's progress?
An integral part of Graduation Weekend is Parent/Teacher Conferences. These short meetings are essential to learn not only about student progress, but to set goals for the summer and next school year. We will be sending a Zoom link to families where they will meet with all faculty/staff working with their students.

Room & Board
Is compensation available for room & board?
The school’s leadership team has carefully assessed the options to offer some level of compensation for the boarding portion of the tuition for the last part of the spring semester 2019-20. The factors around this decision are complex as the school continues to incur most of the expenditures associated with boarding, including salaries, facilities costs, and contracts with various vendors. At the same time, we recognize the financial hardship that many of our families are experiencing at this time as well and want to help families in financial hardship. All families have been contacted regarding their options.
